Happy New Year!!!

Hey Lover,

I hope you had an awesome New Year's Eve and rang in 2012 with class.
I went to a wine and cheese shindig and had loads of fun. There was wine to be had and little pre new year epiphanies to help us cross over to the new year.
I'm looking forward to this year and can't wait to see what it has in store for me.

Wishing you your heart's desires in the new year!
Love,
Mo

Event Geekery: 99 Days In

Hey Lover,

Yesterday I got the chance to go to a runway show featuring designs from fashion students from
the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design (NSCAD).
Each designer showed about 3 to 4 pieces.  The collections ranged from 50's inspired garb to a punk'd up Victorian era.
My favorite was Jennie Bijou who drew inspiration from the four elements: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.
In her words, " I wanted to infuse the emotions, colours and textures that the elements evoke in myself.  All of the fabric was hand dyed with natural dyes as to respect the elements that surround me everyday. I want the wearer to feel the same joy and life while wearing the dress that I felt while making it, and to create strong silhouettes that make them feel as powerful and forceful as the elements they are representing."

check out a few of the pictures I snapped at the event and also a video of my fave designer of the night.

Mo

Celebratory Drinks

Hey Lover,

After such an AMAZING event on Friday, my friend Shariena and I were still on the high from that night AND to top it off , she had just finished make-up school. So we decided to go grab a few drinks and have dessert at one of my favorite spots. It was a much needed chill time because we got to chat about future events, collaborating projects and working even harder than we did this year. The time of reflection was truly needed.
Check the few pics we took.

Love,
Mo
p.s. click on her name to check her make-up blog :)

PLayiNg Catching UP: The Last 2 Weeks

Hey Lover,

Things have been crazy for me the last couple of weeks that I haven't blogged as much.
I've felt REALLY badly about it.
This post should catch me up on a few events and outfits.

Enjoy
Love,
Mo

1.
A friend, Anna, invited me to a night flea market.  I had no idea what to expect but I was PLEASANTLY surprised. Halifax's artsy scene had a to die for vibe.  There were lumberjack beards and moustaches, bow ties and polka dot ties, gluten free baked goodies, nail art by my friend Stephanie and the piece the resistance mixed cassette tapes made on the spot with the prettiest covers.
I wish I had taken more pictures, however it was a little crowded in there ,but take it from me the "street style" was inspiring.

2.
A few weeks back I received an invite to go to a shopping party.  One thing I love about Halifax is that we are big on hyping up our local businesses.  Wherever you are in dowtown Halifax, you are bound to see most stores with stickers encouraging you to BUY LOCAL.  The shopping party took place at Biscuit General Store, which is a great blend of quirky make-you-chuckle vintage finds and  wonderful pieces from brands like Cheap Monday, Toms, Betsey Johnson, Free People, and Valerie Dumaine to name a few.

3.
With the change in weather comes the decrease of outfit posts. Canada's winters are SO brutal that I find myself wearing the same warm, thick and wind blocking clothing that, frankly speaking, just doesn't seem blog-worthy to me. In the past 2 weeks I have, sadly, only taken one outfit pic. Forgive me I will try harder!

4.
Last week was pretty much non-existent in terms of things to blog about.  I spent the week preparing for my event which I had on Friday December 9th.  It was a celebration of Curvy Geekery's 1 year Anniversary:  A night of entertainment, some prizes and revealing my new collection of clutches. I'm almost done with that GIGORMOUS post of Friday's happenings. I am still floating on the HIGH from that night. It truly was MAGICAL for me and can't wait to share it with you!

Mo

Hey Lover

Today the best amigo and I had the great honour of seeing our friend, Helena, in a play she was starring in.
Her performance was AMAZING! I felt so proud of her and so happy that she is following her bliss.
The play titled "In This World, by Hannah Moscovitch, is a complex exploration of race, class and sex as experienced by two urban, contemporary girls in high school." [source

The EGYPTIAN necklace

Hey Lovers

This past week there was an event in Halifax called the African Diaspora Heritage Trail Conference.
Thanks to my darling friend Abena I got to go to the closing gala.  It was an AMAZING night I have to say.
The conference is filled with "thought-provoking conversations and first-hand experiences of how to preserve, promote and protect sites that are important to the global narrative of people and culture of African descent."
The night was that and so much more.  The entertainment was stellar. I had so many goose bump moments through the spoken word, the songs and the amazing people that were in attendance.
The vibe in the room was electric.
I am soooo humbled that I got to attend and thankful for such a life changing experience.

check out a few of my pics
xoxo

I'm getting to OLD for this..LOL

Lovers,

I don't know if I am the only one feeling this, SERIOUSLY, each time I go out I just feel like a DINOSAUR.
The reality that this new school year is bringing in kids born in the 90s is just an abomination..LOL...and being in a small city with 3 universities within 30 mins of each other, freshman are ALL up in your face like a swarm of gnats.
ohhh gaaawwwdddd... I CAN'T... I just CAN'T!!!
I went to a party this weekend and I honestly was just out of it.  These are the things that were running through my mind.
1.  what time is it?  1:30am
2.  It's too hot in here... I swear  I just saw the devil walking to the bar to get some ice
3.  It's wayyyyy too packed in here..... how would my brother and I get out if things went awry?...better yet how would I save myself, I'm sure he can fend for himself.
4. I can't wait to get home and get into bed under my flannel sheets and watch my episodes of Necessary Roughness with Mehcad Brooks *drool*
5.  what time is it? *major sideye* it's 1:38

LOLOL
anyyyyywayyyys, here are the few pics I took before I bailed and headed home
