A Virtuous Tweed Ride- Portland!

Recently Portland held the first of two Tweed Rides, naming this one 'The Virtuous Tweed Ride'. Without any further ado -- sharing but a mere sampling of photos from the ride...

These happen to be my particular favorites, and it was extremely hard to narrow it down to just these few. There were so many photos to savor from this ride! Four different photographers are represented here, each one has a slew of great photos. You owe to yourself to visit each of the bold red hyperlinks beneath each photo to see more from that photographer. Enjoy!

Now to look forward to the second upcoming Portland Tweed Ride - Vice!
It is coming up immediately, as in this weekend April 2nd. I can only imagine how wondrous that ride will be (and the photos)!

LMS Spotlight test

Nic and I were recently sent the LMS Spotlight system. http://www.lmsspotlights.com/
This system uses red light to tackle acne. Neither Nic or I would be able to review this product effectively so when a subscriber emailed about her problem skin we offered to send her the system to do a much more compelling review.

This is the first of Julie's video diaries and she will be updating us over a 6 week period.
If you have any questions for Julie contact her via her YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/SayItToMyFaceMakeup

Beautiful Memory of Elizabeth Taylor on her Bicycle...

A fond look back at Elizabeth Taylor, one more time as seen here riding her bicycle....

Elizabeth Taylor on a bicycle shared by RidingPretty

Liz was adored as an actress -- but I believe Liz wanted to be best remembered for her fight against AIDS. Liz helped to raise money and awareness through her organization AmFAR.

RIP

Elizabeth Taylor

This week saw the passing of a hollywood legend.
Sometimes her turbulent private life took centre stage and over the years perhaps many have forgetten or don't even realise what a brilliant woman she was.
Not only was Elizabeth Taylor an exceptionally good actress (winning two Academy Awards) she also spent decades as a social activist, championing the cause of AIDS awareness, research and cure. In those years she helped to raise more than $100 million to fight the disease.

13 Weeks Pregnant.

Finally, I have made it to 13 weeks. It seems like it has taken forever to get here. Ian and I couldn’t be happier.

Last week I had my 2nd scan, you might wonder why I have already had two scans? The reason being, I have miscarried twice.
I had an early scan just to check everything was going to plan. Thankfully on both scans all seem to be normal.

Having a scan just puts your mind at rest, Ian took a few hours from work to come with me to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital, Im very lucky that he likes to be really hands on and look after me.
Never have I been the sort of girl that needs looking after, in fact Sam and I are far from that, both the most independent girls you could meet, the complete opposite of our brothers that really need mothering but for some reason being pregnant has made me want to be protected and I enjoy nothing more than snuggling into Ian’s arms and letting the time pass......If only the next 6 months would hurry up, I have never been very patient.

I have been feeling so much better since I have reached 13 weeks, My sickness is still here but no where near as bad....Im so happy to be able to eat again!

Ian has said that he will do videos with me on PixiwooMadness So that we can keep you updated on how we are feeling and from a mans point of view.

That thing they call Gratitude.

I find myself being very reflective today, well, it's been ongoing really for the last couple of days.  I've been extremely exhausted but the constant swirl of thoughts has proven stronger than the necessity of sleep. I remember when this year started I said to myself that I wouldn't make a mental list of resolutions that I wanted to achieve, instead I would live by one principle - TO GIVE FAITH A FIGHTING CHANCE.

I remember telling my mom, last year, how I felt like I needed to take a long trip somewhere by myself.  At the time I just felt like I really needed it, just to unwind.  Another thought I had was hoping that in 2012 I would be able to attend a fashion week event.  My sights weren't to be there as a designer doing a show, but as a designer in the crowd and I couldn't see this being possible in 2011 just with some of the personal obstacles in my life.

Now back to the swirling thoughts of the last couple of days.  I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude.  This year I get to take a long trip.  I've always wanted to take a train and go on a long trip.  I'm over the moon that I get to do this as I make my way to Toronto.  A whole 20-something hour long train ride, filled with the possibility of meeting people, sight seeing, journal writing and opening myself to the universe.  To add a cherry on a cake that already has a big cherry on it (though I hate cherries..lol)  I'm attending fashion week.  A month ago I told you guys of how a designer had asked me to be the accessories to her runway show.  Unfortunately, that designer is no longer going to fashion week this April, so that means my clutches will no longer be on the runway.  At first I was gutted, however I shifted my thinking.  I decided to look at it this way.  I don't think I'd have had the guts and means to go to Toronto all by myself, but when the designer approached me, that gave me the push I needed to see that this dream of mine wasn't that far from my reach.  I still couldn't afford it but my path has been blessed with some beyond AMAZING people that see something and believe in me and have helped make this possible.  I have faith in great things happening in my life and this I count as a great thing.

So in 2 days, I take this trip.  I promise myself to be open to the universe and every possibility that it throws my way.  I promise myself to have a constant attitude of gratitude, to be humble and to absorb as much as I can from those around me.

positivity. gratitude. love. blessings. friendship. humility. and above all faith.

Africa Night 2011

Two universities joined together to bring Africa Night 2011, a showcasing of African culture done by the students.  I was asked to do a runway show and was excited to showcase some of the clutches from my Spring/Summer 2011 line.  I decided on the name "House of Wax" primarily because I went with African wax prints for this collection.  Enjoy this BIG post on the events of the night. Grouped in 3 categories.
What I wore - no explanation here
Model Behavior - me and my models getting ready
The Fashion - People that I came across after the event.
