The first video was posted by the Sacramento Tweed or SactoTweed. A day or so later along comes the second video -- the London Tweed.

Don't you love it! It's only begun -- people are still on their bicycles riding - tea stop, prizes, parties and more still await everyone as the day progresses. There is sure to be mucho, many more videos, along with top notch, fine photography work documenting today's event. You'd expect that to happen coming from the birthplace of the original first Tweed Run that began it all...

Vintage Tweed Cape, Rain, My Bicycle & Yet Another Tweed Outfit

Rainy Day on Thanksgiving...

Despite the rain bursts out of nowhere I managed to stay very cozy and dry - and I owe it to my my vintage tweed cape. My bicycle is another story. Rain and my vintage DL-1 Raleigh do not fare so well together. It is because of the rod brakes - they don't handle safely. This equals to a Mad Dash and jumping over rain puddles.

This outfit would be so ideal for a Tweed Run -- Is anyone still looking for inspiration to put something together for one of the remaining Tweed Rides or Runs coming up this weekend?
This outfit was rather unexpected, but worked perfectly for me!

I still have more tweed outfits I am hoping to share, I'm Tweed obsessed I guess!

Tweed Video Treat!

New Video -- DC Tweed Ride 2011

USA Capitol Tweed Ride -- this is the 3rd Annual Tweed Ride in DC. As usual this event continues to be simply inspiring!

The Ladies and Gents have really gotten the vintage look down -- so well expressed in the choice of riding attire, bicycles finished out with just the right accessories (lots of Brooks saddles, wrapped handlebars, classy wine crate boxes seem to becoming practically de rigueur) oh, and their spiffy presence and attitude!

Next up is The Big Apple Tweed Ride from Fall 2010. There was not a Big Apple Fall Tweed Ride this year in 2011, so I present you with last year's event...

Two events, pleasantly different one from the other. Both occurred in NYC.

Here I want to add a little tidbit to clear up some prevalent misconceptions. People are quite unaware that contrary to popular belief, the RRL Rugby Tweed Run was not actually the first one of it's kind in NYC.

Borrowing and Stealing from Menswear Looks - Tweed Outfit 2

On a recent fall day bicycle ride...

I came across these freshly ripening pyracantha berries. I just had to stop to procure some of these beauties for my seasonal flower arrangements that I so look forward to making at this time of year!

Often I find myself wearing a lot of Menswear. I will covet and search for the men’s tweed jacket, the men's oxford shoes, and the men’s “field & stream” canvas rucksack.

For whatever reason Menswear really lends itself well for my own private Tweed Runs, meaning my own inspired outfits whether I am fortunate enough to attend the actual event or not! So Ladies if you're putting together something to wear this fall that is quite Tweedy Inspired - well try paying a visit to the menswear department - wherever you shop! Sizing issues may be a problem, so I offer up this tip – be sure to check the boys wear department too. At least that is where I often find the better fit.

Beyond The Rugby Ralph Lauren Tweed Run NYC

Bill Cunningham (NYTimes) and The Rugby Ralph Lauren Tweed Run NYC have done a fantastic job of getting the entire world to take notice of Tweed Runs and Tweed Rides.

If you missed this one singular event, fear not. Contrary to a widening FOMO belief and to dispel the “IT- ness” this event has garnered, there is more beyond The Rugby Ralph Lauren Tweed Run NYC! So happy to report this!

Respectful thank you! RL for helping Americans discover Tweed Runs and to Bill Cunningham for his fashion take on it and explaining what it all means.

To those people just discovering the phenomenon -- do realize Tweed Runs and Tweed Rides number in the hundreds by now and happen all over the world.

To date Ralph Lauren is the biggest name sponsor to come aboard. Sponsors typically are more likely to be local independent bike shops, local bicycle accessory maker / designer (a cycle cap maker for example). For the most part everything is more grassroots in how the ride gets organized and sponsored. Quite often there is a benefit or charity aspect to the event as well.

Prizes are typically offered, often with a grand prize raffle too - usually via the generosity of an event sponsor. On offer as top raffle prize at The Rugby Ralph Lauren Tweed Run NYC was a special addition Rugby Pashley bike. In case you didn’t win it there is a special edition of fifty Rugby Pashley bikes up for purchase.

Be on the look out for a Tweed event in your part of the world -- or organize it yourself! Yeah for DIY! Try checking The Tweed Ride Report for an event near you.

As a last thought. There are many other Tweed Runs and Rides happening all over the world-- and so finely captured in such beautiful photography and outstanding videos. I will to continue to share these treasures with you. You may well find just how elegantly wonderful these other events ARE - yes, and forget all about missing the Tweed Run NYC...

Cheered myself up and forced myself to redo them all over again during this past weekend. So here is my Tweed Jacket and Shorts outfit (again) -- so happy to tell you.

With the weather reaching into the 70's & 80s (like it has recently) and when I find myself feeling that feeling "I'm in the Need for Tweed" -- well, I wear my Tweed anyway! -- only I pair it with khaki hiking shorts and my Italian leather boots.

My morning was a pure fashion playtime -- experimenting with Tweed Ride outfits and styling! With all the Fall Tweed Rides happening this year -- going through my closet looking for possible outfits has become somewhat of an obsession. That and learning / playing with Instagram. I love re-purposing my (rather boring) photos and turning them into something with a dreamy vintage feel.
