LOcal Talent Dopeness: Three Sheet Music Vid

Hey Lovers.

My fav local Indie HipHop group, Three Sheet, just dropped a video for their single Stamina..
and uhhmm it was ALL shot using an Iphone 4...
big shout to my girl Vanessa with her goofy self and EMC for always blowing me away with his beat boxing.
I LOVE the vid.  It has awesome colors and is just a true reflection of people that are completely self-aware.

enjoy

Hey Lovebugs
Hope you guys had a good weekend.
My Friday was when I and the best amigo, Kwame, went to an album release party for a local group called Three Sheet. They are a hip-hop group of 4 guys and a girl.  I met the band's diva a few weeks ago and we just hit it off.
We are both creative people and have a love of some of the same things.
I'm hoping to be styling her for their future gigs.
Here are the VERY few pics I managed to take before my batteries died on me
(my fault for not making sure they were charged)
Also I included a vid I took the last time they performed.

p.s. I'm loving this top I'm wearing. It's very airy, very laid back comfy with a flare of earthyness :)

The DoVE that FLY(ies) high in the SKY - ASA

Hey Lovers
Haven't done a Muse(ic) Mondays entry in a while...so here goes
For the past 2 weeks I have had Asa's self-titled album on REPEAT.
I'm pretty sure that the album has started giving me the side eye each time I press play.
I just can't help it, there is nothing like going back to an album you hadn't listened to in a while. It almost feels like I am re-discovering the sweet goodness of the music.
I have other music of hers but for some reason I can't stop playing this one.
Check out some of my fav pics of Asa and some of my fav songs from the album.

Love, Beats & Pure Art

1. Jailer
This is my MOST fav song on the album

2. Eye Adaba
I had no idea what this song, sung in Yoruba, meant when I first listened to it.  Regardless it took my soul to an unknown place. When I found out what it mean.. I understood why :)
click [here] to find out the meaning BUT FIRST listen to the song

3. Bibanke
Asa explains what it means :)

Awesome Sauce Muse(ic) Monday

I know it's Sunday, and I normally do this post on Monday, but the curvy geek ALWAYS has a "me day" on Valentines Day.  I must say I'm a sucker for lovers' day, the fat flying infant with a crossbow got me a LONG time ago.
I digress,

I have a major crush on this dude who goes by the name of Theophilus London.  His music is unique. His flow is charming. His mix tapes are dripping with awesome sauce.  His fashion sense is to DIE for.  There is nothing more alluring than a well dressed man.  To my amigo "The K is Silent" I hope this post helps you discover Theophilus London's genius!

thank you for being a muse to me Theophilus London!

Totally geeky MuSe(ic) Monday.

This week's Muse is none other than Nina Simone.  When I go through all the Nina Simone albums I have, I literally experience all kinds of emotion.  Her songs are filled with the words that a strong black woman needs to empower hemself. Her sultry voice, the tone of her skin, the confidence that oozes out of her when she plays the piano, her gorgeous hair, and the way she carried herself make for one uber SUPERWOMAN!

She's was one bad mama jama!!!
I Salute you Nina Simone, for not only singing the illest rendition of my most favorite song in the whole world, but for inspiring me and showing me what real music is through out the 40 albums that you made  AND being the music behind my mom and I's MANY jam sessions and road trips.  You truly are the "High Priestess of Soul"
MY MOST FAVORITE SONG EVVEEERRRR!!!

Here are other Nina Simone songs, i truly LOVE them ALL but will only put another 2 up. There are just wayyyyyy to many favorites. *bliss*   *running in a field of daisies*

MagicALLY Cool MuSe(ic) Monday.

This week's Muse is Solange.  Her album Sol'Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams was filled with heaps of  awesomeness.  I love all the music on that album but my favorites being
1. T.O.N.Y ...such a dope song and the way the lyrics just flowed was butter.
2. Cosmic Journey feat. Bilal was such an exciting flow, made me feel like I was running in a field of daisies.
3. This Bird... harmonies were yummy.. the song was empowering. "imma keep on rolling"
4. Champagnechroniknight-Cap ... should I say more? ;)

I salute you, Solange, for being a muse to me:)

Sidenote:
Dear Solange
It's about time dammit! eagerly awaiting the new album.

MagicALLY Cool MuSe(ic) Monday.

Fellow Geeks,

Today is Muse(ic) Monday.  Hopefully I will attempt to do this on most Mondays.  I'm sure EVERYONE has music that speaks to them at every point in life's journey, be it good or bad.  My Muse of the week will be the British Indie Band - The Noisettes.
I don't even remember when I came across this band, but I remember being totally enamored by the lead singer Shingai Shoniwa.  Though I am a little biased because, like me, she has Zimbabwean roots, it was love at first because her style is just utter genius.  So yes, I have a girl crush on her (giggle) (kicks imaginary pebble)..LOL..  (will have to do a later post on her style)

So here are some of my favorite songs from the band...I have chosen some live, acoustic performances because I love the energy of the band and I love the versatility of Shingai's voice.  I hear their live shows are INSANE...seeing them live is definitely on my life list.

I salute you, Noisettes, for being a muse to me :)
